ANZAC Day March & Closing Ceremony


Cheer on the marchers throughout Fremantle and follow the crowds back to the Esplanade for the closing ceremony.

For those participating in the parade, assembly is at 9:45am and step off is 10:15am. The parade route is as follows:

  • Departing from the Esplanade Reserves
  • Along Marine Terrace
  • Up Collie Street and
  • Onto Pakenham Street
  • Then on to High Street
  • Down Market Street
  • Along South Terrace
  • Down Essex Street
  • Back along Marine Terrace to the Esplanade

The parade concludes at the Esplanade Reserve where a Closing Ceremony is to take place at 11:00am with an estimated conclusion time of 11:30am.

Participation is free. No need to register. Associations will be contacted individually to participate in the march; if you have not been contacted or wish to be involved in the march please contact the City of Fremantle's Events Administrator on 9432 9728 or email events@fremantle.wa.gov.au

The people of Fremantle (including the greater Fremantle area) are proud to be part of the ANZAC Centenary commemorations and to have the opportunity to honour and pay respect to those who have and are serving our nation as part of the Armed Forces. ANZAC Centenary events will embrace the themes: 'Commemorate, Contemplate and Educate'.

Eight hundred and forty-nine is the number of servicemen who lived in the greater Fremantle area, embarked in Fremantle on transport ships that would take them to far away fields, and they are the ones that never returned.
